Emily Perzan: Book writer, Composer, and Lyricist

Based in London, UK, Emily Perzan is an emerging musical theatre writer, composer, and lyricist dedicated to bringing people from all walks of life together through the power of storytelling and live theatre. Originally from New England, Emily developed a deep love for musical theatre from an early age, spending much of her childhood singing, dancing, and immersing herself in imaginative worlds shaped by music and creativity.

Emily trained at the University of Hartford's Hartt School Conservatory, where she further developed her passion for musical theatre, before earning a Master's degree from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). Her creative journey has been shaped by a lifelong belief in the ability of stories to connect people, inspire hope, and create understanding. Performing on stage for over 30 years, it is the impact of stories that brings her back under the lights every time to give back to the audiences that have come along for the adventure every night.

Drawing inspiration from both her own experiences and the stories of those around her, Emily writes original musicals that explore themes of mental health, resilience, and human connection. She is particularly passionate about creating work that amplifies underrepresented voices and ensures that Deaf, disabled, and neurodiverse communities can fully engage with and experience live theatre.

At the heart of Emily's work is a commitment to inclusion and accessibility. She believes that theatre should be shared by everyone, regardless of background or ability, and strives to create productions that foster empathy, spark conversation, and offer light even in life's darkest moments. Through her writing, Emily hopes to cut through the noise of the world with original stories that remind audiences they are seen, heard, and connected.
